You should really invest in a really good quality high pixel camera with a good zoom which will allow you to take some really awesome shots. Sunscreen

Don’t forget the sunscreen. Even though the temperatures may feel chilly, the Alaskan sun is still extremely strong so you need to watch out for those UV rays. If you’re taking part in the tours of the glaciers be careful as the sun can be intense.

As you can image the waters in Alaska and along the Pacific Coast can be a little bit choppy at times, so if you suffer from seasickness then you will need to have something to hand that will aid your recovery. A little bit of advice that I would give would be to bring a pump bottle of insect repellent with you as it so much easier to use and way quicker to put on, also make sure you keep it in your checked in luggage or buy it on the country your boarding the ship as I had to lose mine as I had it was in my hand luggage going through security.

Alarm clock

If you don’t have an alarm on your phone, than please take my advice and take an alarm clock. The cabins are often quite dark which can make it a little bit more difficult to get up and the last thing you will want to do is to sleep in and miss and shore excursion. Also if you want take full advantage of the excursions it’s best to get up early and get out and make the most of your day.

Hiking boots

You will need an excellent pair of hiking boot to handle the terrains that you will explore whilst on land excursions. Alaska has a massive mountainous terrain, so you need to be careful as the last thing you want is to damage your feet while on holiday. Make sure you purchase a good quality pair of boot as you will most likely get a lot of use from them.

Rain gear

Remember to pack things like umbrella’s, rain coats, and waterproof boots. These are vital pieces of equipment that will get good use whilst on holiday. One of the best pieces of advice that I was given before I went on the cruise was to always travel with an extra pair of socks. It’s not fun if you’re caught out and have to travel around with wet feet for the rest of the day. Comfort and convenience is the key for an Alaskan cruise. You get to enjoy and marvel in the great sights and not have to worry about being wet of cold.
