Here’s something that will get my legions of fans excited. If you’ve been waiting for my latest videographic production, now you need wait no more, since this is it! I’m running this video on how to build your own homemade astrojax, and the best thing about it is that it actually works. Not only that, the astrojax is a really nice toy! If you haven’t tried using one, this is your chance.
This is also a great way of shaking of boredom, and possibly getting some good old fashioned family fun. Okay, so in the video I mention you’ll need a half dozen beer bottle caps, but between you and me, you can just use any kind of bottle cap you want - although using beer bottle caps might be more interesting, if you catch my drift. Just make sure you set a good example, and get your children away from the screen with some good old DIY craftsmanship!
Today I’m here to tell you about a new toy I’ve recently heard of, which I was instantly drawn to. The astrojax is quite simply a set of three balls bound together by string, which can be used to engage some fascinating gravity defying stunts. This toy feels somewhat like a cross between yo-yo and juggling, and it’s quite interesting to use it because you must learn how to sense the tension in the string and react accordingly. Like this:
There are several types of astrojax available, built with different materials and suitable for different degrees of expertise; some of the recent models include built-in LEDs for a psychedelic effect, or they’re filled with water for a more interesting motion dynamics. If you just want to try using this cool toy, I’ll also show you how to make one from simple household materials.
Granted, this Astrojax DIY is not nearly as accurate as a commercial model so it’s not very good for making advanced maneuvers; still, it’s good enough for getting a feeling of what this is all about, and practice some of the basic techniques. Go ahead and try it! If you enjoy it, make sure to get the real thing:
Also, feel free to send over your videos showcasing your skills!
What is the thing with kids and dinosaurs, anyway? I remember when I was younger, I was a huge fan of everything dinosaur-related, from movies and tv-shows to toys and collectibles. I’d always associated my preference to the whole Jurassic Park hype from back then, but just now I was leisurely strolling around this educational toys website, and I was struck by this impression that kids nowadays are still very much interested in those funky over sized lizards from yester-age.
Just looking at these toys brings so much memories! I almost feel like getting some for myself, but I suppose It’ll be more appropriate to get some for my nephews and take the chance to tell them all about the wonderful Jurassic era. I don’t know about you, but I’m very happy to realize there’s still a market for educational plastic toys, in the fast-paced technological days we live by. If you can relate to this feeling, I recommend you take a look at this specific dinosaur toy store.
