Have you ever wanted to impress your friends or guests at a party with some of those awesome magic tricks you have seen people do? Sleight of hand and magic tricks are easy to learn with practice and can be a lot of fun. Here are 10 easy card tricks to get started:
1) Two for One
This trick pretty much takes care of itself once you know what you are doing, but will be completely mysterious from the perspective of your audience. The trick is that the decks seem to be shuffled many times and split up into several piles, but somehow you magically find the card you are looking for.
2) Guess your card
This is another card trick that takes care of itself if you arrange the cards in order from the beginning. Your participant picks a card without you seeing, then you are able to find it anywhere in the deck since it will be the only card out of order.
3) Flip It
This is a trick that will really stump you the first time you see it. The magic is that you are able to flip over cards simultaneously with two decks and get an identical card match at the same time with both decks. Watch the video on the card trick to figure out how.
4) Force a Card
Forcing a card is a magic technique where you ‘force’ the participant to pick the card you want them to pick. Some tricks rely on finding their card without knowing, but forcing a card is knowing their card before the magic trick.
5) False Cut
False cut is similar to force a card where you are using sleight of hand to give off the impression of cutting the deck when really you aren’t. Perfecting this technique is essential for any magician to get the trickery out in the beginning before they are expecting it.
6) Key Card
The key card tactic is where you have the participant choose a card that you do not look at or memorize its place in the deck. The key card is a card that is not the one they chose but one that is directly above their chosen card. You memorize that card in order to find their card.
7) The Gun Trick
The gun trick is more of a neat gimmick then it is a magic trick. You basically turn a deck of cards into the shape of a gun that you can hold in your hand and fire one of the cards into the air to catch it in between the rest of the cards.
Prediction tricks are the cornerstone of any magician’s bag of tricks. This trick is where you make two piles and predict the top card of each pile.
9) Fast Four Jacks
This trick is pretty neat as the magician mixes the four jacks randomly in the deck. After a quick shuffle, the trickster pulls all four jacks out from the top of the deck.
10) Keep the Twins Apart
To “keep the twins apart” is when the magician mixes ace through five for two suits in two separate piles. Somehow, at the end all of the cards are matched up with their corresponding number in the opposite suit from the other pile.
