1. 1954 AJS E95 “Porcupine” — $750,000 (expected price)
This motorcycle was built by AJS, a British manufacturer in the 1950s. Though it hasn’t sold yet, it is believed that the bike will bring in three-quarters of a million dollars; this is because it is both very rare, this is one of only 4 that were made, and it has a racing past.
2. Dodge Tomahawk V10 Superbike — $555,000
This bike’s high price is due to two factors. First, the bike is rare; there were only 9 made. Second, it is FAST. The 4-wheeled bike literally has a sports car engine; it has a Dodge Viper V10 engine that can reach 420 mph and outputs 507 horsepower. The bike is so fast that it isn’t allowed on any public roads.
3. 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer OHC — $551,200
The bike sold for the above price in 2008. It was designed by Andrew Strand, an engineer from Sweden. The design was far ahead of its time for a 1915 track racing motorcycle. It has a V-twin engine that outputs 45 horsepower. The reason this bike is worth so much is that it was only produced for 2 years, only 12 have been found, and even during its time, it was a exceptional bike.
4. 1894 Roper Steam Cycle — 500,000 (expected price)
This 117 year old bike is worth so much for three reasons. First, it is unique and believed to be one of the oldest motorcycles in existence. Second, it is one of only two motors that Sylvester Roper produced; the second is on display at one of the Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C.
5. 1929 Brough Superior SS100 — $450,188
This bike was bought for the above price in 2010. It was designed and built by George Brough, who deemed the bike the Rolls Royce of Motorcycles. Completely custom down to its individually designed handle bars, this bike is the first ever custom motorcycle.
6. Ecosse Titanium Series RR Limited Edition – $275,000
Only 10 of these bikes were made and they are the definition of luxury as well as quick. Made of clear carbon fiber, this bike has a fuel injected, supercharged 2140cc billet motor that can output 200 horsepower.
7. Macchia Nera concept bike – $201,000 – $210,000
Only one was created in 2004, which is why this bike is worth so much. This track bike’s engine is based on a Ducati 998 WSB engine.
8. Icon Sheene – $160,000
Dedicated to Barry Sheene, Andrew Morris designed this motorcycle; 52 were produced as this is the age that Sheene died. The motorcycle has a 1400cc turbocharged engine that can output 250 horsepower. The uniqueness and small production, along with the fact that each of the bikes will be customized based on their owners’ wishes, are what makes this bike so expensive.
9. MTT Turbine SuperBike – $150,000
This motorcycle is one of the most powerful in existence. It has a Rolls Royce Allison 250 Series turbine engine that can output 320 horsepower and is known to have reached 227 mph.
10. MV-Augusta F4CC – $120,000 – $135,000
There were only 100 of this model made. 90 percent of its parts are handmade, including the entirety of its engine’s internal components. It has a 1078cc engine that outputs 200 horsepower. The uniqueness and lightness of this motorcycle are what led to such a high price tag.
