If you’re living in the US of A, you might have caught glimpse (in between those pervading presidential campaigns) of a new hot online company focused on helping people get better sight for a low price (which is also what most presidential candidates promise if you think about it - but i digress); yeah that’s the one, I’m talking about Zenni Optical, the premium source for low-cost prescription eye-wear. How low? as low as $8 for basic prescription, with a wide selection of frames and lenses to choose from. Isn’t that something worth remembering? Such prices are only possible when you cut the middleman, and sell directly to the public… god bless the Internet.

Our sight is one of the most important human senses, but it’s also one of the most overrated. I remember reading somewhere that about 80% of our perceptions are based on things we see, and I cannot help to feel that’s a bit too much. However, while we may not be able to redistribute our sensory inputs, at least we can do something to ensure our sight remains crystal clear, thus providing for a reliable interaction with that so-called “reality” surrounding us.

So, if you’ve been failing to see the amazing awesome-ness of this humble slice-and-dice corner of cyberspace (particularly if you’re one of the people who think the site’s design is outright ugly), this may just be the thing for you! Getting a better sight without losing sight of all your hard-earned cash. Now that’s just the way I like it; it almost makes me feel a little sad for not actually needing to wear vision aid.

While I’ve always been as much of a Beatles fan as the next guy (which isn’t to say much, coming from the 80’s generation), the past few days something magical happened: while browsing through youtube I happened to watch a video from Yellow Submarine and I got completely mesmerized.

I mean, this is dense material, and there’s a kind of magic and lyrical awesomeness that I find absolutely astound. I’ve become completely hooked with a few videos I’ve caught glimpse of in Youtube and I’ll definetely check out the movie in the near future - so you should expect a full fledge review soon!

Have you noticed that 10 years ago, there wasn’t too many people who used computers, but today they’ve gotten so widespread it could be argued there aren’t so many people who *don’t* use computers? Sometimes I get wondering how it’ll be a decade from now, and one of the things that I find most intriguing has to do with the new interface technologies: I feel that the as the usage of computers will get more pervasive in the future, the way we interact with the machine will become increasingly more sophisticaded and altogether different.

For example, I have a feeling that in the future, keyboards will be rendered progressively obsolete. How is that possible, you ask? Two words: voice recognition. I mean, how cool is that? I’m speaking of a future where we’ll actually talk with our computers, controlling most operation with our voice including typing words. Can you imagine the possibilities? For some people it might sound awkard at first (I mean, try saying something to your computer right now, as though it was actually listening, and see how that makes tou feel like), but I’m telling you this is a future trend, and it will bring about many changes in the way man interacts with machine.

Well, as a matter of fact (this is something you might not be aware of), there’s already voice recognition software out on the market which is quite effective. Myself, I used to think this technology was still quite primitive, but after experiencing Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Preferred, I’m definitely convinced that in a few years, voice recognition will be the hot new thing - and I get a feeling that Dragon speaking may be a step ahead in the right direction. Judging from the NY Times Review of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, I suppose I’m not the only one who thinks that way.

Myself, I’m about to get started on my new experiment: writing a few posts out loud, leaned back in my chair and liviing it large through the fast paced contemporary days we live by… thanks (in more than a way) to Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard

It’s great news for gaming fans all across the globe: Nintendo is going to be releasing the new, improved version of the DS (touted by some as “DS Advance” and “DS2″ by others), which is rumored to include more powerful graphics, bigger screens, and double tactile input similar to iPhone.

Naturally, the official specs haven’t been disclosed yet, but throughout the Internet, some creative people have been coming up with some rather inspired creative visualizations. I figured I’d round up some of my favorite for your viewing enjoyment, so here you go:

Also, I’ve found this picture from an actual patent that was registered by nintendo two years ago. While it’s unknown if this was a discarded DS prototype or actually the new model, it sure looks like an intriguing concept to me.

10 years ago, something special took place in this dimensional plane, that would forever change the way millions of people around the globe retrieved information from the vast world wide web landscapes. Yes, it was in September 1998 that Google went publicly incorporated as a revolutionary new search engine… and look where they are now.

ah... time really does fly, when you're having fun.

All over the place, I say. In more than a good way, thankfully. So I’d like to offer this humble salutation as proof of my thanks for making the Internet a better place. Even though today a PageRank update also took place that shook down this website to zeroes (meaning Google does by no means put this website in high remarks), I’m holding no personal grudge, and I’m still thankful to the big G for all it represents. Life is fleeting and so is PageRank… who cares about that anyway, while we’re still having fun?

Here’s to hoping I’ll be around in 10 years for a 20th anniversary salutation post! So many things change in a decade… I get a little dazed trying to picture myself in 10 years looking back to this very post. Well, time cross flow, one really never knows… let’s just wait and see.

For everyone who’s a fan of prank calls, I’m about to present the next best thing ever since Bart Simpson picked up a phone and dialed Moe’s tavern. This is called Fonejacker and it’s a fast-paced semi-reality show revolving around the telephonic exploitations of a character whose central agenda is none other than to:

“seize control of a telephone conversation by farce esp. to divert it from reason and logic”

Sounds promising, uh? This british show is on the way to its third season of madness and public exploitation, and judging from the growing legions of fans, it won’t stop anytime soon. So if prank calls are the kind of thing that floats your boat, you might to want to look into this show!

Yes, I know… moving to a new house can be one of life’s top sweet & sour experiences. On one hand, there’s the sweet of getting a new home, a new beggining and a new chance for a better living; on the other hand… there’s the whole moving scenario. As in, packing all your thinks, stripping your old house clean, putting everything in boxes and moving everything to the new house, unpacking and getting started with the new home thing.

Well, that’s that, right? And I certainly can’t help you deal with the sweet & sour conflit… however, I can let you in on a sweet deal which can make the sour part just a little tad effortless. It’s even better than truck rentals and it’s a whole new way of organizing the physical translation of your items. You see, rather than renting a truck to help you move, this concept revolves around rental cargo containers and a “you pack, they drive” philosophy. So you just load your cargo, they take it to the designated place, and you handle the unpacking - without stress or worries, and at a substacially lower price than hiring a company to do all the work for you.
