Miraculous Procedure: The birth and death of a Hemangioma!

admin January 7th, 2009

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This video may look a bit disturbing in the early part - particularly if you have a baby on the way. But if that’s the case… I really advise you to watch you through, because in the end you’ll feel reassured. In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, a Hemangioma is a kind of vascular birthmark, which in the past brought much suffering to ill-fate individuals who would be doomed living life with strangely deformed features. Fortunately though, we’re now living in a time where science and medicine have come to the rescue… and as you’re about to see, that was quite a rescue, as well! Hopefully, this video will serve as a message of hope to anyone suffering with the same problem.

I mean… thanks God for Science, right?

100 rides, 5 Facilities, 3 Piers and loads of Fun? Must be Morey’s!

admin December 6th, 2008

This is pretty much a no-brainer, for anyone who’s visiting the NJ area this Christmas: check out Morey’s Piers! Provided you’re in for having some good family fun, that is. You might have heard about this place, since it’s one of the great Wildwood attractions and roller coasters in Jersey. And as you can see from the video up there, there are good reasons why it lives up to the reputation.

Morey’s is comprised of over 100 rides, distributed among 5 facilities which are built over three piers - henceforth the name Morey’s Piers. Besides the amusement park rides, there’s a host of boardwalk attractions including two awesome watermarks - which makes this place a top pick for a Jersey Shore beach vacation. Also, this time of the year (from December 1 to January 9) you’ll get access to substantial discounts - up to 40% on a Season Pass.

If you’re planning a New Jersey Vacation these holidays, that website will provide you with a comprehensive resource to find accommodation in Wildwood. So unless you’re going to stay over at friend’s or family’s house, you might want to look over for hotel or a motel in the area, while planning your vacations. If you visit Morey’s Piers, make sure to send us a link with your own videos, I’ll be happy to add them to this post.

Want to help make a happy Christmas? Check the Payatas!

admin November 22nd, 2008

Good news, everyone! If you’re looking for a worthwhile charitable cause to donate some money this Christmas, I’ve just learned about something that might be perfect for you: Christmas For Payatas. As you might have heard, many people are banding together to support this charity and to help those kids. I’m leaving you with a video and the official press release, so you can make an informed decision.

The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate onditions of humanity.

On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to
collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival.

In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas.

Totedaddy.com has kicked off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 in cash sponsorship. The money raised
will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community.

It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. Together we can bury poverty!

United we get Across, Divided we’d Stumble!

admin November 9th, 2008

I just stumbled across this cartoon (author unkown) which clearly demonstrates an important principle which should not be taken lightly: when people effectively work together as a team, the whole is always greater than just a sum of the parts. I felt like sharing the picture, along with a little food for thought, so brace yourself:

this is how we do it!

this is how we do it!

This reminds me of that old chinese story, which revolved around twigs… you see, you can easily break 10 twigs separately, but once you join them together, it will be unlikely you can break them at once (unless you have got some super-breaking powers, or something like that). Keep this in mind for future reference! It may not sound like much, but trust me… anyone who suceeds in genuinely working as a team will succeed in going places he never be capable of getting at on his own.

Tactical Pants and the Last Pocket Factor?

admin November 6th, 2008

That’s just how fashion works… sooner than you know it, a new type of clothing suddenly becomes all the rage. Although in this circumstance, I suppose it’s something to do with the militarized period we’re living through, and the whole influence of the Iraq affair and such. Regardless of the cause, I couldn’t help but to realize these kinds of 5.11 Tactical Pants are getting extremely popular these days. Personally I think they’re okay, but I wouldn’t wear them because of something unsettling which I refer to as… the last pocket factor.

You see, I have this brain disorder that gets quite annoying sometimes, and it’s related with everything I carry in my pockets; to be more accurate it pertains the act  of retrieving something from my pockets. Whenever I’m trying to find something I know I’m carrying with me, there’s a 99% chance it will always be in the last pocket I end up scrounging. So, if I started using tactical pants (which are renowned for including 10+ pockets)… somehow I have a feeling that would be a recipe for disaster.

That’s actually quite a shame, because tactical pants certainly look cool.

The Amazing Virtual Mirror… a thing of the past?

admin November 6th, 2008

Trust me… if there’s something you should keep in mind about life is that it goes by in the blink of an eye. Today’s cutting edge is tomorrow’s obsolete blunt. For example, this interactive mirror may look pretty cool, right now, but in just a few years people will watch this video and think “wow, that’s so early XXI century!”.

So, rather than telling you to enjoy the video and dream about the technologies of the future, let me tell you something. Life is fleeting, and each day propels us recklessly towards oblivion. We should enjoy everything while it lasts, because nothing will last forever. Nothing, I tell you!

If you need to get lost to find your way, better turn off your GPS.

admin November 6th, 2008

If you usually hang out this bizarre kaleidoscopic little corner of cyberspace (which I know you do, because I’ve actually been spying on you ;), then if goes without saying I’m very much into popular/ancient wisdom. Actually, it’s extremely common to find myself threading thoughts which revolve around popular sayings… which is kind of oxymoronic, now I think about it (the part that it goes without saying I’m very much into how the saying goes).Whoa.

Before I digress once again and stray further from my original reasoning, here’s the saying I thought about in the first place: “You have to get lost before you can find yourself“. This nugget of wisdom always crossed my mind as some kind of deeply meaningful statement, infused with a highly elusive amount of Truth. Well, I was just leisurely browsing around some Sat Nav Reviews, and this insane(ly) remarkable sentence occurred to me:

“If you need to get lost before finding your way, better turn off the GPS”.

stop finding, start searching?

stop finding, start searching?

What can I say, I’m just impressed with my own keen sense of overarching… ingenuity, or something like that. In any circumstance, I’m should probably order some couple thousand bumper stickers with this awe-inspiring sentence, and it’ll get me not only overnight fortune, but also a great chance to inspire and enlighten my fellow humans. Otherwise, I should probably lay off the caffeine before writing more posts… or should I? Maybe I could just get myself some kind of mental Satnav, to kep my reasoning from going astray all the time. Do you suppose such a device has already been invented?

You could win:
- Daily prize of $25. (You have 7 days to win!)

As you can see, my pet cats are definitely cute enough to stand a good chance of winning this contest - particularly when they get all bundled up like in the picture up there. Unfortunately, my digital camera is broken and my cell phone is quite low-res, so I don’t think I’ll be able to get a decent picture in time for the contest. Oh well, maybe next time… who knows. In the meanwhile, if you have cool pets and a decent camera, why not consider giving this contest a shot?

Auto A/C: Brace yourself for the cool, cool winter!

admin November 4th, 2008

I dunno how it’s like in your area of residence, but unless you’re living in the South Hemisphere, I guess you must be getting quite the chilly wheather, by now. I dunno what kind of car you’re driving, but unless it’s like one of those wonderful (hopeless) vehicles in the video up there… consider this: auto air conditioning. If I could offer just one advice for the upcoming winter, getting a decent A/C compressor would be it.

You may think this is unnecessary luxury, but trust me: it’s not. Besides, nowadays there are specialized auto air conditioning services offering quite reasonable prices, free shipping, and even repair parts. And if you don’t believe me, what can I say? … Just check for yourself!

There’s not too much room for stars in the sky, but there’s plenty space for extras!

admin October 8th, 2008

Ever dreamed of being a movie star? Come on, don’t be shy now… there are countless people who enjoy musing what it would be if they could get to the other side of the silver screen and play their favorite heroes. Why should you be any different? It’s not like there’s shame to being human and wanting things.

In all circumstance, and without meaning to burst no bubble, I should remind you that it’s not exactly easy getting in the movie industry - well, not by the front door, anyway. You see, the more I think about it, the more I realize there’s just too many people who want to get to the top straight away, without climbing some sort of a career ladder. In the movie industry as well as any other industry, that’s always bad reasoning.

In my opinion, learning the ropes is always the best way to get started doing anything, as well as getting some kind of practical hands-on experience. What I’m trying to say is… why should you be so concerned with pursuing and elusive goal, when there are practical goals you could be striving towards right now, that could set in in course towards higher flights? I’ve been told about this company called Talent6 which specializes in recruiting extras for movies and tv shows. The pay is actually not so bad ($100-$300 / day), and it could very well present with with a window of opportunity eventually… or at least it’ll allow you to see what it feels like to work in the industry. So if you want to be a star, this is my advice for you… head held up high, feet planted firmly on the ground… keep walking and who knows? Maybe you’ll get where you want.
