Simple Ideas To Save an Extra $100 a Week

Are you looking to make your money go further? Since we work so hard all week, it’s helpful to find ways to save money and to stretch our dollar. Though it may seem hard to save money on a weekly basis, here are some helpful tips for saving at least $100 a week:

Eat and drink at home

Though it may be tempting to grab a coffee at Starbucks before work or to go out to dinner with your spouse, try to eat and drink at home for an entire week. That means you will be eating and drinking at home for three meals each day, seven days a week. Not only will you save gas money, but you will also save money by not paying for tips or food and drinks at a restaurant.

Simple Ideas To Save an Extra $100 a Week

Avoid heat and air

One of our largest bills tends to be our heating and cooling bill. Though it may be nice to have the house at a perfect 70 degrees every hour of the day, it can really be eating at your wallet. If it’s hot in your home, go out for the day or spend some time in the basement. If it’s cold in your home, throw on a sweatshirt. Also, by getting a programmable thermostat, you can control the temperature at every hour, even at night.

Find cost-free hobbies

Who doesn’t love to see the latest movie that came out or to go shopping around the mall with friends? It can be nice to get out, but it can also cost money. By riding around, spending money on food while you’re out and by paying for all your activities, you can spend more than you think. So, try to find some cost-free hobbies. For example, go to the park with your family or just go for a walk around town. There are plenty of things you can do for free.

Carpool

With gas being so expensive, it’s best to carpool. Try to carpool to and from work each day and to go places as a family. For example, instead of you running to the bank, your husband running up to the store and your child going to piano, try to do everything in one trip.

Skip grocery shopping

Oftentimes, we tend to go grocery shopping when we don’t even need to. For example, we may see some good deals at the store and then $100 later, we come home from shopping. Try to be creative with the food you already have and try to come up with a few different meals for the week. Yes, you may need to get some bread and milk, but you more than likely don’t need $100 worth of food weekly.

By eating spaghetti for dinner one day, soup the next and eating sandwiches another day, you can save a lot of money by just eating the foods you already have.

As you can see, there are also sorts of great ways to save money throughout the week. From carpooling to staying home for the night, you can easily save $100 each and every week.
