There are many part-time jobs you can work as a college student. One of the best part-time jobs is doing something related to your career. This can be a business venture, work for a particular government agency, or corporate internship. The latter can help beef up your resume, particularly if you have no other experience when you graduate.

Corporate Internship

Many colleges will allow you to earn credit hours on course with internships. You can also get $12 to $15 an hour or more, too. Find out what programs your college offers. For example, marketing majors interested in advertising may find an internship with an ad agency. Accountants are usually expected to work internships, either during the school year or summer. House Painting

House painting is another popular part-time job for college students. A company called College Works Painting actually hires college students to manage other painters. Those who manage the painters get a percentage off the clients for whom their painters work. Some branch managers, as they are called, can earn between $5,000 and $36,000 per year part-time. You can also earn four-figure bonuses.

Bar Tending

Bar tending has always been a favorite part-time job for college students. Bar tenders can earn hundreds of extra dollars on the weekends alone. Bar tending also has its perks, as you can get to meet lots of students. You can also keep apprised of what’s happening on campus; or meet influential people. You can either bar tend on campus or in a larger city near campus.

Instructor

You may have certain talents that you can use to earn a part-time income while attending college. One example is a karate instructor. As a karate instructor, you can teach people self defense techniques. You can contact one of the basketball gyms on campus to hold the classes. You can also teach piano or guitar lessons. Run an ad in the paper to attract customers. Determine the amount of income you need to earn, and limit your students to that particular number.

Web Designer/SEO

Work part-time as a web designer or SEO if you have the skills. SEOs are search engine optimizers. They help companies attain high rankings in major search engines, inserting keywords and codes on their clients’ websites. You can either work for a web design or Internet marketing firm near campus, or start your own part-time venture. Check with other area firms to determine the going rate for your services.

The most important aspect of any part time job you hold while you’re in college is that it not take your attention away from your academics. Choose something that allows you to focus on your studies while making some extra cash.
