You know something I really enjoy about the world we live in? There’s always an interesting story lurking behind each and every thing you can possibly think about. Humanity is really just a huge tapestry of interwoven stories, if only we realize so. For example, I’ll tell you about the story behind the city of Orlando - which is currently one of America’s great touristic sites. According to legend, this city received its name in mid-XIX century, in a rather unexpected an casual fashion.

Apparently, there was a soldier called Orlando Reeves who died in that area in the course of the Florida War (which was fought against the Native Americans of the Seminole tribe). Orlando Reeves was a scout who went to inspect the area prior to the battle; while doing so, he carved his name in a tree near Lake Eola. Before the battle had actually begun - just when he was about to give a warning shot to his fellow soldiers - Orlando was killed by the Native Americans. As fate would have people, people started referring to that area as “Orlando’s Grave”, which was later shortened to Orlando.

How about that? If you ever visit Orlando Fl and you remember this story, you can still find a memorial next to Lake Eola: the designated spot which originated the city’s namesake. In all circumstance, keep in mind that Orlando is now a place of wonder and magic, thriving with touristic attractions and wonderful sights. Finding some good Orlando Hotels should be no trouble at all, since it’s a common touristic destination… I think the biggest trouble when visiting Orlando must be deciding on the places you want to check out, in between so much variety!
