Unseemingly Unrelated - Paper Paradoxes (with a hint of nonsensicality)!

Don’t you love it when different things without much apparent connection suddenly strike you as some kind of awkward match? As though it was some kind of universal puzzle fitting in with itself? This morning I caught glimpse of the picture up there while leisurely strolling (do not confuse with “trolling”) the Internet. In case you don’t get it, the newspaper headline says “Woman spotted yesterday reading today’s paper”. Well, to be honest I thought it was a nice picture, but I didn’t spend much time with it. Just until a few minutes ago, while browsing the insanely cool Subnormality from Virus Comix, I found the following cartoon (which by the way reads ” Local man devoured by newspaper box“:
Okay, so at this stage you’re probably a little confused about the relationship between both pictures. Well, to be honest, I was also kind of puzzled for a while back there, myself. I felt compelled to write a post joining the two pictures together, but I really couldn’t put my finger on what I was trying to express. Variation of a theme? Hmm maybe, but not quite so. Prediction of the future, psychic-enabled newspapers? Well, now we’re right on track. These pictures actually worked together to remind me of that show I’d never thought about in years:
In case you’ve never watched it, Early Edition was a show from the late 1990’s which revolved around a guy who received tomorrow’s newspaper… today. Which was delivered on his doorstep by an enigmatic tabby cat. But wait! I’m not crazy, nor stoned much less delusional… there’s actually a point (as elusive as it may be) to this rant, and I’m about to get there. The point is that… we keep getting signs from our surroundings, and by learning how to interpret such signs, we can almost “learn” how to become the future. And by becoming the future, we get to change what the future holds. Ok, so this came out a little dumber than I had anticipated.
Now, for the overarching leap of logic, which may either serve as a pseudo-mystical punchline, or otherwise cause any remainder (however small) of my credibility to fade: Nothing is an accident. There is an universal plan, and everything in the universe is just in the right place. I’m not saying I believe in destiny, but I am actually saying that I believe in Design… of the universal variety. And sometimes I get the impression that the whole existence is one humongous cosmic orgasm just waiting to happen… through each and every one of us.
The only thing hindering this ultimate cosmic experience is our limited sense of self; but if we learn to read between the lines, trust me… slowly but surely, this feeling of undividedness will emerge from deep inside us - and sooner than you know it… BAM! As though it was some kind of ultimate enlightenment extreme, the secrets of the universe will open up to you. And you WILL understand just why…
“The greatest mystery in the universe is that… there is no mystery whatsoever.”
