Fraud Report: because A Fool and His Gold are Easily Parted!

admin October 31st, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The world out there? It’s a jungle, and no I don’t suppose to put that forth as some kind of ground-breaking news. Most people who have ever had some kind of human interaction don’t take long until they realize they should keep their eyes peeled; there are just too many ill-willed individuals who look forward to breathe substance into the age-old adage “A fool and his money are easily departed” . And guess what? As it turned out, the Internet has become a ever-expanding stage for all kinds of scam artists and tricksters.

Don’t get me wrong, though. I don’t mean to embed you with some kind of irrational paranoia that will make you suspicious of all your on-line acquaintances. However, I think it’s very healthy to maintain a healthy watch against bad intentioned people -particularly so when it comes to the cyberspace landscapes, I might add. Now, the problem here - I think - is that most people really don’t get enough information to effectively protect themselves.

bust a thief

Henceforth, I’d like to take the chance to make a call for education and recommend this website called Report Fraud, which is focused on providing articles to help you detect and handle a wide range of online frauds and schemes. Reading some of those articles will be likely to provide you with valuable insight regarding some of the latest trends in the dark arts of computer-mediated deception. Besides, you also get a chance to actually report fraud by submitting your own stories, thereby helping other people stay out of certain traps you might have happened to fall into before.

The thing I enjoyed the most about this website is that besides focusing the most obvious “popular” scams people seem to fall for the most, it also provides information about some rather unpredictable, and oftentimes amusing, attempts of fraudulence. For example, I was just reading this article about Fake Poetry Contests, and I was equally impressed by the nastiness of such exploits and the ingenuity of the author in defusing it and expressing the experience in a rather interesting and insightful article. But don’t take my word for it, just go ahead and check it out for yourself.

How to Make the Ultimate Graduation Speech!

admin October 29th, 2008

Do you remember what it was like to go through High School? Some people think of that as the best time of their life, while others think it’s the worse. Then, some people think of their graduation speeches as a chance to say a lot of senseless crap, and then some people take that opportunity to make something innovative and memorable. Case in point, I’m about to show with with a very special video from a peculiar kid who falls somewhere in between, while successfully captivating the crowd’s imagination. Ah… those kids nowadays.

Happy birthday dear self, Happy birthday to me!

admin October 28th, 2008

In my opinion, there are two kinds of person who take it upon themselves to make a self-declaratory happy birthday statement such as this one here. The first is the overly depressed kind, which provides such statement as a way to draw attention and self-pity. The second is the overly confident kind, which make a point out of letting everyone know it’s their special day, simply because they’re well worthy of all the attention in the world. Myself, hopefully I’ll fall somewhere in between.

Most people seem to take their anniversaries as a chance to either congratulate themselves for their achievements, or berate themselves for their failures. Hopefully, today I’ll choose offering myself something more interesting and useful: perspective. During these past (almost 3) decades, I’ve lived through things good and bad, I’ve experienced heights and depths, and for all of that I’m thankful. My positive experiences brought me happiness, and my negative experiences brought me awareness… all in all I’ve been blessed with the gift of understanding.

This is a gift I’m embracing wholeheartedly today. Even though I usually write posts for my dear readers, this is a specific reminder I’m making for myself… and I couldn’t think of a better place to keep it other than here. For the better and worse, this website has become an extension of who I am, and in more than a way, it has become a personal reminder why I like it here.

all of us
all of us

You see, a dear friend of mine once told me that one should never let his birthday go by unnoticed, since doing so would represent a huge shortage of self-esteem. So today, as I initiate my 28th journey around the sun, I feel I’m offered a great opportunity to take stock of where I’ve come from and where I intend to go… and particularly, to think of what I’ll be doing to get there.

Even more so, today is a great chance to thank of the kindred spirits who have been along for the ride, and to embrace others which may come across my existence sooner than I know it. A lonely life is no life at all, and to all the people who have somehow caused me to realize I’m not lonely at all, my best efforts shall be placed into returning the grace of having helped me figure out who I am.

Even though this is my birthday, I know congratulations are due to such people - and there are many such people, scattered across time and space. From my family to my closest friends and colleagues to people whose lives I’ve barely grazed upon my own, I want to make it clear that in the best in me is nothing but a reflection of the best I’ve had from the people I’ve loved. We’re all together in this one… and hopefully we’ll keep doing our best to support each other through life’s hardships.

So, before I get overtly sentimental and side-tracked besides my point, this is something I honestly wish I’ll remember on a daily basis: Life is what we make of it, and fortunately… we do have the power of making it into something great. Let’s not put our power to waste, particularly not when we’re faced with unpleasant situations - because in perspective, it will all make sense. In ways that we can barely begin to imagine from our limited, human standpoints.

universal love
universal love

We should let life follow its course, and never be arrogant in thinking we know what’s best for us… because we’re merely agents of a universal power. The Plan has been laid out, and the best we can do is make ourselves available so that wonderful and amazing things can happen through us.This is something we’ll oftentimes forget, but provided the good people of the world know how to stick together, there’s no stopping good things from taking place.

So while I’m not wishing for world peace for my birthday (since that would be quite stupid and pointless), my whole heart is hereby focused on universal rememberance. Because once we all get ourselves to remember why we’re really here, hell will freeze over, and change will come about. Just as long as we bring ourselves to remember… what life is really all about.

Universal Love is only a myth until we’re capable of proving otherwise.

Stem Cells cryogenics: a gift aimed at preserving life.

admin October 21st, 2008

With the holiday season just around the corner, the time has come to start planning what you’ll offer your loved ones. Well, I’ve been reading about an innovative kind of present which might be suitable for the kind of woman that has everything… a gift certificate aimed at preserving life.

You might have heard the news on stem cell preservation, a new technique that allows using cryogenically preserved healthy cells to potentially develop treatment for several diseases that may ocur in the future. What you might not know about is that there are companies offering this service at a reasonable price. C’elle is one such company, and it provides a save and easy method of harvesting samples of menstrual blood which are then processed and stored with the purpose of getting used in future cellular therapies. Such cells can be used to treat not only the woman they’ve been collected from, but also someone sharing her blood-lines… such as a parent, children or sibling, and they can be used to treat a vast range of life-threatening diseases.

What if your favorite songs used no metaphors?

admin October 17th, 2008

Whether we like it or not, the world becomes a softer place for all of us from the use of metaphors. I mean, can you imagine what it would be like if everyone went around with a fast-forward, tongue-in-cheek attitude, speaking their minds freely in every circumstance without making the least detour or using some colorful comparisons? Well, I’m guessing that disaster would ensue and confusion will be likely to get cast all around. So while you watch the following video, hopefully you’ll keep in mind that metaphors are actually quite useful and actually necessary as a lesser evil:

Wikipedia for shoppers? No problem!

admin October 17th, 2008

If you’re a fan (such of myself) of the Wikipedia - free encyclopedia project, you might have wondered about other applications of the wiki collaborative format. As you probably know about, these days anyone can develop a website using this method of content development- where the users are allowed to voice their own opinions and it actually becomes part of the site. Well, today I’ve found an application of this concept which might just be your cup of tea, particularly if you’re an avid online shopper.

As you probably have figured out by now, I’m talking about some kind of wiki shop, where people engage shopping in a rather collaborative enviroment. Product reviews, customer experience, tricks and tips and everything related with online shopping - that’s what you should expect to find in this website. So next time you’re out looking for a guide to help you decide on a new steaming Iron, Vacuum cleaner, this might provide you with the information you’re looking for.

Worth keeping in mind for future reference! As usual, enjoy your shopping and enjoy your living.

upside down dogs 3

Well, what do you know? This might just be one of the most curious animalities ever to surface the web ever since an obese kitten was paired with the archtypical cheeseburger. I just found this website which is all about photos of upside down dogs… now, you really didn’t see that one coming, now did you?

I’m wondering what people will think about next… maybe a website focusing slanted parakeets, or drunken guinea pigs? It just goes to show that people seem to really love animals, god bless the internet. And we love those animals even more dearly when they’re upside down. I mean look at those creatures… aren’t they just adorable and cute? Yeah, well go ahead and have fun browsing the upside down dog archives. Just don’t forget to come back here for new reminders why we like it here ;)

Ebay purchase via proxy? International shoppers will appreciate this!

admin October 15th, 2008

Shopping online is rather nice and convenient, and sometimes you can get access to amazing bargains, especially if you roam around internet aution houses such as ebay.com. Now, the problem is that when it comes to auctions, many sellers don’t really seem to enjoy making international sales. So if you’re an international buyer, you’ll be likely to miss on half the fun. Well, that is until now:

I just found out about this package forwarding service called Shipito, which is essentially a warehouse in the USA where you can have your items shipped to. Their business is none other than forwarding the item to your real address, thus allowing you to make international auction business via proxy. Sweet, uh? I know some of you people know what I’m talking about, especially if you’ve used ebay.com as international shopper. It´s just too bad that so many sellers are apparently afraid of shipping overseas, but at least now there’s a way to get around such technicalities. Enjoy you shopping and your shipping, and remember why we so like it here!

Days of the future past: we all play our part.

admin October 14th, 2008

Unless you’re some kind of haphazard time traveller, I’m pretty sure this will come as no surprise: the world keeps changing, and the future is right here and now… and progressively even more so. In our fast-paced contemporary societies, we’re no longer worried with imagining how the future will turn out, because we’re rather busy participating in making the future, each and every day. Everything is changing, and in time, change becomes us; welcome to the days of the future past.

The most ironic Wheel of Fortune ownage!

admin October 13th, 2008

Not at all unlike life, the popular tv show “the wheel of Fortune” is capable of amusing us with oftentimes unpredictable moments of sheer amusement and irony. Today I’m about to show you one such video, along with a heads-up: sometimes we’re only treated with loss because we fail to see how triumph is just waiting for us to call its name. Similarly, there are occasions when our small distractions easily transmute into genuine self-fulfilling prophecies. So do you best to remain alert in your daily endeavours, and (why not) make room for good things to happen in your life!
