What’s wrong with those emo kids? I’ll tell you what’s wrong!

Gloomy, depressed, darkly dressed, strange accessories and improbable piercings, messy hair, shy prickly characters… you might have realized by now, that’s the standard portrait for a typical emo kid. What’s wrong with these stray children, anyway? I’ll tell you what’s wrong… they feel so lonely and emotional they cannot help but engaging obscure fashion statements are nothing but a misshaped cry for help. It’s a good thing there’s been a recent proliferation of Emo Chat Rooms… in my opinion, thuis might just be the cure for one of the most aggravating contemporary juvenile afflictions. There, I’ve said it! Now please don’t yell at me just because I’m different!!! Can’t you see I’m depressed?
Okay, now… I must confess I’m almost ashamed for what I’ve written back there, but I won’t delete it anyway because it’s all in the name of good online fun. However, I feel now compelled to write a moderately serious and thoughtful disclaimer of sorts, concerning the whole emo thing.
First and foremost, there’s something most teenagers don’t realize until they’re no longer teenagers. It’s just something as simple as … feeling unabashed existential angst is something that pretty much comes with being a teenager. So the whole emo(tional) thing does have some valid underling reasoning, and the emo lifestyle is just a trendy expression of this universal feeling which has been going around ever since there was a teenager.
The important thing to point out, one that should be kept in mind by teenagers and parents alike is that… it’s just a phase – all part of growing up and being human – and there’s no reason in moping around when you can choose to be genuinely happy and make the best out of life. The longer it takes you to realize this simple fact, the worse… for yourself. In that sense, it goes without argument that emo chat rooms could just be a good way of helping kids through their emotional phase, as much as … well, going out and trying to reach out to other people, as opposed to sitting around and moping in utterly depressed contempt.
Did I mention sitting around and moping is a rather silly thing to do? GO, EMO, there’s a whole wide world out there and it’s yours for the taking… now just wipe those tears and go have some fun. Oh.. to be young and emotional…

hello i’m kendra my friend named megan she is going though somethings that make her want to cut her self like yesterday night she had a fight with her step dad and wanted to cut her self.but she did want to bleed so she cut her hair insted. And now she wears her hair up to hid it she yousted to have the most beutiful hair but now she looks like shes kind of bold please could you please help her by telling me what to do.
You should tell your friend that being a teenager is a really rough thing that everyone goes through, but everyone eventually gets over that.
The tough thing about it: that’s something people usually realize when they grow into their twenties. The great thing about it: everyone really gets it eventually, and so will your friend. She should do her best not to mess up her own life, through these tough teenagehood trials… you know?
Tell her if she cuts herself, she will only succeed in raising her suffering. Tell that life already cuts you up, very much on its own… but tell her that all the while it’s worth it on account of the good times – and there ARE always good times, and there are always two sides to each coin – and having a real friend, a person who cares – that goes a long way in helping anyone through those rough times.
Oh shit I feel like Oprah right now, but there’s no going back. Girl, you just go and securely, wholeheartedly hug that friend of yours and ask her to hold on to life, just as you’re holding on to her.
Tell her to just knock it off, already. There’s a fucking life out here, and it’s fucking worth living, you know? ….. if you just put your heart into it, rather than putting your razor blade to your wrists.
Cheers,
P.
