Today I’m here to tell you about a new toy I’ve recently heard of, which I was instantly drawn to. The astrojax is quite simply a set of three balls bound together by string, which can be used to engage some fascinating gravity defying stunts. This toy feels somewhat like a cross between yo-yo and juggling, and it’s quite interesting to use it because you must learn how to sense the tension in the string and react accordingly. Like this:

There are several types of astrojax available, built with different materials and suitable for different degrees of expertise; some of the recent models include built-in LEDs for a psychedelic effect, or they’re filled with water for a more interesting motion dynamics. Granted, this Astrojax DIY is not nearly as accurate as a commercial model so it’s not very good for making advanced maneuvers; still, it’s good enough for getting a feeling of what this is all about, and practice some of the basic techniques.
