Wise Guy’s Guide to Bringing in the Big Guns!

admin March 20th, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The following snippet teaches us a valuable lesson about life; although I advise you to take this lesson metaphorically. I mean, it might sound amusing - and convenient - to start calling the fire department asking to save you from a rampant loose tiger, in order to have them get your cat of out the neighbour’s tree before tea time. It might sound convenient, but I don’t think the fire fighters would be amused - or convened - with your cleverness. I think the old adage “don’t use a cannon to kill a mosquito” might be of relevante, in this argument. Now read the snippet, and learn your own life lessons and have fun while doing so; click picture to enlarge.

Simple tricks to keep personal Recession at bay!

admin March 19th, 2008

The US economy isn’t exactly thriving nowadays, and with all the negative buzz surrounding the market crash and reports of people sinking into debt, I think it’s about time we come up with a plan. Myself, I have a simple theory to stay of debt: you see, as far as I can tell, the trick to achieve this goal is actually quite simple: your financial input must always exceed your financial output… otherwise, you’ll simply keep plumetting towards financial disaster!

Recipe for Living Poetry - by Walt Whitman

admin March 19th, 2008

“Who troubles himself about his ornaments or fluency is lost. This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul; and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body… . The poet shall not spend his time in unneeded work. He shall know that the ground is always ready ploughed and manured … others may not know it but he shall. He shall go directly to the creation. His trust shall master the trust of everything he touches … and shall master all attachment.”

Check your martial arts before you check your gear!

admin March 18th, 2008

There’s an old saying, back where I come from, which goes more or less like… the habit doesn’t make the nun. While watching the following video, I realized the same could be reasoned about martial artists. So if you’re serious about your chosen discipline of martial arts, make sure to equip yourself properly; in fact, here’s a good source of Martial Arts Gear - however, please make sure you don’t become a habit without nun, or rather a poser martial artist with no actual skills. Remember, as in all worthwhile things in life, discipline is key to success!

Numerology Ahoy! Check your birthdate here.

admin March 18th, 2008

In my ongoing quest for ready-made self-knowledge, I’ve discovered yet another relevant resource which feels appropriate to share. This time around it’s a simple numerology chart based on your birth date; you might have heard of this system - I know I have - but it’s always nice to check back. So if you want to know what your day of birth reveals about your character, check here. As usual, I’ll leave you with my own prognostic - my own birthdate is 1980/10/28, so once the math is done this is how it goes:

  # 2 THE PEACEMAKER
2’s are the born diplomats. They are aware of others’ needs and moods and often think of others before themselves. Naturally analytical and very intuitive they don’t like to be alone. Friendship and companionship is very important and can lead them to be successful in life, but on the other hand they’d rather be alone than in an uncomfortable relationship. Being naturally shy they should learn to boost their self-esteem and express themselves freely and seize the moment and not put things off.

Famous 2’s: President Bill Clinton, Madonna, Whoppie Goldberg, Thomas Edison, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Artistic Warfare, Paintball Therapy? I think I’m getting a new Hobby!

admin March 18th, 2008

I’m not really the kind of person who’s into guns or senseless violence, but lately I’ve been getting the urge to try some paintball action - I’ve been told it’s a great way of relieving stress and sorting out arguments and quarrels, and I’m all for that. So, I’ve been looking around for some paintball gear, and I was surprised to find out there’s actually some inexpensive paintball guns out there, such as the popular spyder guns and the Tippmann series.

Improv Everywhere: a daily reminder of Food Court Musical!

admin March 17th, 2008

Remember how I keep telling that we’d all be better off if life was a musical? Well, I’m happy to know there are like-minded people out there, who apparently feel the same. This is another public parody authored by the amazing Improv Everywhere group of comedians, whose motto is “We Cause Scenes” - as you can see these guys really deliver.

I’m cutting this slice hoping there will be people across the world who will get inspired by these funny antics, and perhaps you will be one such people, dear reader! Make sure to browse through the Improv archives and get your creative juices flowing; go ahead and scheme your own daily reminders why it’s great being alive… I feel there are many people whose world is far bleaker than it should. Don’t you think so?

The World could be your Office, with proper Web Conference Tools!

admin March 17th, 2008

Within the fast-paced technological days we live by, there are progressively new ways to get things done - usually faster, more efficiently and with most convenience. A few years back, “videoconference” has become a buzzword; recently it has evolved into a trend; in the not-so-distant future, I’m confident this kind of tool will become an actual necessity for each business operating on a global scale. And the way things are headed, it’s safe to assume there’s no reason why all businesses should not operate on a global scale, soon enough. I really get the feeling that in the future we’re headed to, the very world could become my office space.
