fishing fish

Remember the old saying “if you see someone hungry, don’t bother sparing one fish - it’s better teaching the person about fishing?” I’ve always thought this expression was highly meaningful, and nowadays even more so. You see, this “fishing” thing needn’t necessarily be about catching aquatic finned critters; as far as I’m concerned, it can apply to just about anything we can learn to make our lives easier and self-sufficient.

For example, I hate teaching someone how to handle their computer distresses, because usually that will waste both my time and the person whose computer I end up dealing with. Whenever I end up doing such a thing, I invariably focus on helping the person figure out what is wrong with the machine, rather than merely fixing it. This is a similar logic to teaching someone how to fish, if you think about it. I mean, getting one fish will satiate the person’s hunger for a short while, and that’s it; conversely teaching someone how to fish will set the person on a whole new life course.

What I’m trying to get at with this reasoning is simply… educate yourself! Aim for self-improvement! Quit being a fish beggar in life, and start threading the path of the true fisherman. If you’re interested in effectively learning more about computers and you keep getting network troubles, check out these CCNA training (Cisco Certified Network Associate) programs, if you want to become a better at your new business or occupation make sure you learn the ropes and secure the foundations from where the seeds of skill will sprout - remember: the journey is the way.
