I usually tell people I know a sure-shot indicator for performing a simple and effective sanity check, and so far no one has refuted this theory - it’s pretty much common sense if you think about it. You see, I believe that when a person stops questioning his sanity, that’s probably the same time the person has went over the edge. Have you ever seen a crazy person questioning his own sanity? I think not. Granted, our brains are complex systems, and our minds operate within intricate patterns which can’t easily be systematized. But so far, this simple rule of thumb has provided me with much insight, regarding the borderlines of human sanity.
This is probably one of the greatest inspirational stories you’ve heard in a long while, and if you don’t know about Professor Randy Pausch, then I urge you to sit down and watch closely. The following lecture was given on McConomy Auditorium in Carnegie Mellon, last September. As he worked on this lecture, Mr. Pausch had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, and thus he decided to make his final teaching, focusing quite a unique subject: Fulfilling Childhood Dreams. I won’t spoil the surprise, so you should really watch this through; hopefully if will provide you with a more efficient reminder of why we should like it here, than I could possibly strive to achieve with a thousand slices.
While browsing around the vast cyberspace landscapes, I just found yet another resource which might be good for a quick laugh - particularly for people who don’t know how to work with photoshop, but still enjoy messing around with pictures. This is actually a set of websites which allows users to easily insert captions in specific pictures, ranging from a road sign to a motel sign, including wedding chapel announcement and holywood walk of fame look-a-like. I’ve included some examples for your reference; if you want to make your own custom signs real fast and easy, just click each picture and you’ll be forwarded to the respective site.
I really don’t know if this is an effect of globalization, but I’ve noticed that the modern cultures keep getting progressively amalgamated. Personally, I think this a great thing, since we get to take the best from several worlds; this is probably why there’s increasingly more people on the west getting interested in eastern lifestyle and culture, and likewise. Nowadays, us westerners aren’t simply interested in manga, anime , zen and holistic therapies. There is increasingly more people who are drawn to the uniqueness of oriental lifestyle, and even oriental furniture has become remarkably popular nowadays.
Subterranean Homesick Blues is possibly one of Bob Dylan’s most popular tunes, one which has withstood the test of time and stuck to the collective imagination, thanks in part to the thick contemporary socio-political reference within the lyrics and a simplistic yet highly iconic video. This is the kind of videoclip most people will recognize, even people who aren’t necessarily huge Bob Dylan fans:
I don’t know about yourself, but one of the things I like best about the future present is that I get to regularly experience technological trends and gadgets that I used to imagine when I was a kid. I’ve always enjoyed trying to figure out what kind of innovations would become standard household items when I got older, and I especially liked comparing old sci-fi movies set in the not-so-distant future to the actual real-world technological developments.
Getting along with other people is seldom an easy task: you’ve got to admit yourself that you simply can’t get along with every single person - it just feels humanly impossible, right? There will always be someone running around with a special knack to get on your nerves and push out your rugged side!
Water is essential to life, and both our planet’s surface and our bodies is essentially composed of water. Not only that, water is known to evoke some of the prettiest sights in the natural kingdom; who hasn’t been lost in contemplation at least once, staring at the sea, or a beautiful lagoon or waterfall?
Oh, Life… I could sit around in idle contemplation, trying my best effort to put it into words; I could try doing so forever, and I might possibly never get anywhere near. Actually, this is something I usually do in my daily musings, and this is exactly why I’m doing something different, today. This is the day where I just want everybody to Relax!
This may come across either like an exaggeration or an indicator I’m an extremely lazy person, but it’s one of those things you must see to believe - in this case it’s actually a matter of trying and believing. Memory Foam is quite possibly the best thing to have ever happened in the sleeping industry, right next to sleeping pills. If you’re not familiar with the technology, brace yourself - as I’m about to tell about what makes memory foam so revolutionary.
