Spicy Hot Chocolate and the Direct Marketing Woes.

+

Don’t you just hate when you get an unexpected phone call and it turns out to be a direct marketing company trying to get you to try some crazy product or service? So, you rush out of the shower, you’re standing there dripping wet and angry, and genuinely hoping not to go into nervous breakdown as this annoying salesperson over the phone spurts a ready-made sales pitch, while trying to coerce you into getting a free sample of spicy hot chocolate… without letting you interrupt, the person finishes the pitch and ends up saying she’ll only need your approval and mailing address, to provide you with those tasty hot samples of chocolate goodness…

direct marketing

The only problem about it – you try to say without gritting your teeth too hard – is that you hate both chocolate and spicy food; even more so, you hate rushing out of the shower to be hassled with some direct marketing sales pitch for a product you wouldn’t try for free, let alone consider buying it. So you just slam your phone and resume your shower, swearing curses on the god-forsaken crappy chocolate company that dared to ruin your shower. It’s clear how many direct marketeers out there really don’t know what they’re doing!

If you’re contemplating the prospect of leveraging your business though direct marketing, it’s wise to buy lists of contacts. It’s not as expensive as you might think – and it will really pay off, when all is said and done. Simply put, a good quality direct marketing list will increase the likelihood that a marketing prospect will turn into a sale, because it will provide with with a focused target group of consumers who are ready and willing to listen your pitch. What’s the point in calling random numbers on the phonebook, or just mass-mailing to random addresses, if that will only get people annoyed at your company and generate bad reputation? Direct marketing campaigns can be very effective, and the “trick” is actually very simple: just set your target and lock into it!
