It’s amazing what people will do when they get bored. There are some people who turn to gardening, others who try cooking or stitching, and then there are a few peculiar spirits who… well, go out and make entire full-fledged encyclopedias about some kind of alien world, complete with several illustrations describing native animals, plants, customs and societies… All of which are accompanied with puzzling writings in a completely (at least apparently) unintelligible language. How is that for extreme science fiction?

The Codex Seraphinianus is a 350+ page book authored by an enigmatic Italian architect, and it has stood the test of time as one of the most enigmatic pieces of literature available. Some people apparently believe the whole book was channeled (which is the same as saying psychically broadcast from outer space into the mind of the author), and some people think it’s not just an amalgam of creative, yet nonsensical gibberish. Personally, I think it’s quite an intriguing book, well worth looking into. I particularly enjoy looking at all the pictures of strange imaginary creatures; I wish I could get a copy, but apparently it’s an extremely rare and expensive book which can only be found on few public libraries or ordered online for an outrageous amount of cash. So, if anyone happens to come across a full .pdf version, make sure to let me know! For more information and snapshots, check here.
