Who am I? Who am I *really*? Where do I come from? What’s my purpose, my destiny? Is there anything insubstantial and timeless lurking beneath my identity? Such questions of intrinsic existentialist nature are bound to occur to every human being, and they’re an obvious consequence of self-awareness. I doubt there is anyone who doesn’t contemplate the causality behind the self, once in a while; granted some people lean towards a more shallow and sporadic type of contemplation, whereas others make it their primary life quest. Personally, I feel identified with the latter type, and today I’m about to show you an amazing video by a talented artist who doubtlessly shares the same inclination, and one who’s able to articulate it quite proficiently; like this:
Darth Vader is one of the most influential characters in the Star Wars franchise, science fiction in general, and our collective imagination in particular. Now, as far as illustrative goes, I think today you’ll be treated with a rather unique example.
The following exhibition is titled “Darth Vader on Acid“, and it’s comprised of dozens of unique and eccentric takes on the helmet designs that Vader would possibly choose if he was an outer space psychonaut, with an inclination towards psychedelic fashion and lifestyle. There are helmets for every taste: funny helmets, outraging helmets, scary, provocative, queer, and even hooded helmets (which is somewhat redundant once you think of it. So go ahead and laugh your hats out — just beware for disgruntled star wars junkies, should you feel like cracking a joke!
I’m not sure this is actually the strangest internet video ever (after all, there’s some really awkward stuff going around the web), but i’m positive it’s right up there amongst the strangest. In fact, this video is so mind-boggling that will prompt you to consider getting some term life insurance quotes before watching it. Also, while this is merely artistic / sarcastic content based upon animated photo-assemblies, there are some parts which are arguably tasteless and outright disgusting.
If you enjoy fantasy-driven stories, computer games, and you’re always up to support independent productions, this slice will probably make you happy. Bloodspell is a full-lenght 3d-animated motion picture which you can watch right here, and it was created using the Machinima technique (which basically amounts to using a video-game engine to make the shots). The result is actually quite pleasing, and while this is no Beowulf it’s clearly a labor of love, with a nice entertaining story about religion, magic and destiny. Definitely worth watching!
