Redemption Song: Will the hand of the Almighty strengthen my own blogging hands?
+
Actually, I’m not really that big a fan of Bob Marley, or reggae music in general. It’s just the kind of thing I’ll listen to occasionally, by none other than whim or chance. Nonetheless, there is this one music – Redemption Song – that for some reason has always stirred something nameless and outstanding that i carry dormant within myself… something timeless, ageless and larger than Life. This is a song about getting lost and finding your way, it’s about feeling constrained and realizing you’re trapped nowhere but within your own self; all in all it’s a song about redemption and grace.
I felt like posting this because I’ve been taking the last few days to think about what I’m doing here and where I’m headed with these Life Slices; I’ve been meeting some nice people recently, and more important, I’ve been meeting with myself, and I’ve been nurturing an important asset: self-awareness. In a strange way, I think the more I get scattered around the vast cyberspace wilderness, the more I get in touch with myself. Unseeingly as it may be, this song is intimately connected both to myself and to this very website you’re staring at right now, even tough this is something that will only become clear in the future. Just take my word for it… who cares anyway?!
So…. cheers to that, and here’s to the unfolding synergies, and the dissolution of ego in the outskirts of a brand new world.
Redemption Song / Lyrics:
Old pirates, yes, they rob I;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the ‘and of the Almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Won’t you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
‘Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
‘Cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it’s just a part of it:
We’ve got to fulfil de book.
Won’t you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
‘Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.

Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
‘Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it’s just a part of it:
We’ve got to fulfil de book.
Won’t you help to sing
Dese songs of freedom? -
‘Cause all I ever had:
Redemption songs -
All I ever had:
Redemption songs:
These songs of freedom,
