Do you know what it takes to make what is probably the world’s largest sandcastle? Forty dump truck loads of sand, over a thousand volunteers and a lot of energy, also - in this case, willingness to stand up for a good cause. Ed Jarret, who was already a renowned sand castle builder, organized the event “Castle of the Sun”, meant to raise funds for Camp Sunshine, an organization dedicated to assist terminally ill children. The result of this initiative was the impressive construction bellow, which was finished the first of September 2007; measuring nearly 32 feet (over 10 meters), this is likely to be inscribed in the Guinness World Records. I certainly hope they will succeed. If you live within a driving range of Point Sebago Resort in the Casco (Maine) region maybe you’ll want to check it out with your own eyes.
