This is a new image compression technology that looks really promising. I don’t fully understand how this will come about (maybe there will be a plugin, or something like that), but this is meant to work as an alternative to traditional image cropping and resizing. In a way, it’s a best-of-both-worlds approach, where the image is dinamically resized by keeping the proeminent elements in the image intact while resizing the redundant parts (composition-wise, mind you), such as flat skylines and uniform fields of grass - as tough the image was somehow aware of its content. The premise sounds interesting enough, and I’m really looking forward for this thing to become standard; in case you couldn’t grasp my vivid imageries, just take a look at the following video and everything should make sense.
