Sometimes I keep wondering how it would be, if we were living in a musical. Have you noticed that in this kind of movie, people overcome their problems simply by singing and dancing around? And they generally don’t care if they are screeching singers or clumsy dancers, they just care about having fun. Isn’t that how it should be all the time, in real life? Once we think of it, this is something that must be impressed in our genetic make-up, since the so-called primitive peoples are also renowned for engaging in ritual celebrations as a mean to purge their inner devils. The primitive folks already lived in musicals, and somewhere along the line, we have apparently lost such ability. So, when we realize that so many people in the modern days have become stiff and numbing; that many people are ashamed to sing or dance, maybe we can interpret that as a proof there’s something going wrong in our age?
Maybe we are losing something which is very essential and quite deep-rooted, but truth of the matter is that there will always be reminders of what we like it here, which will encourage us not to lose our ability to sing and dance all the time we’re troubled by something. I think that in order for life to be perfect, we’d have to achieve turning it into a musical, all by ourselves. Such as in this hugely popular clip from the movie “Grease”, which expresses clearly what life, singing and dancing really is all about: romantic love, as the love between two characters; and universal love as the general feeling of harmony and enjoyment. Ladies and gentlemen, tonight’s slice is a memory and a tribute to those crazy summer nights - the ones we lived in the past, and the ones we have yet to experience! Enjoy.
