Rejoice plant lovers, because today I bring you exquisite news from the florean world. I have come across quite an intriguing website that claims to sell a “ticklish plant“. I was fascinated with the concept, yet I was also a little skeptical, because this web site is apparently trying to sell the plant as a novelty toy for kids. However, after doing a little research, I learnt about “mimosa pudica“, also called the shy plant.
This plant is rather unique because it’s one of the few plants in the world that has reflexes: this is a plant that actually moves, and quickly reacts to the touch, folding down its leaves along the branches. The effect is actually quite impressive, or at least I think so - it’s not every day that you see a plant reacts so quickly to the touch. Now I’m thinking ordering a few seeds and maybe grow a spectacular ticklish garden; how is that for some innovative gardening?
