Do you believe in God?

+

“I refuse to prove that I exist,” says God, “for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.”
in “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”

god

Sometimes I cannot help wondering about this sort of thing. When I look at people in the street, I tend to imagine their innermost feelings, secrets and beliefs… it just comes naturally. So, when I see so many people browsing trough my life’s slices, it follows naturally that I think about the same. As far as religiosity goes, I think there are only three types of people in this world: those who believe in God, those who *think* they don’t believe, and those who aren’t really sure.

For starters, I suppose it’s only fair that i talk a bit about what I believe in, as well. First of all, I think “God” is a very nasty word. I like to think of myself as a universalist skeptic. I believe in all conceptions of “God” by believing in none; this is because I think the “God” people toss around so often is actually a concept, whereas the actual “God” is something similar to that, yet beyond … much like the sky is beyond the clouds, even though our limited perspective makes us think it’s all the same.

What I believe in, I like to refer as the Nameless One. I believe there is just a single source in creation, and it’s so huge that it allows us to derive whatever interpretation we want. It’s something so magnificent that it has endowed us with free will, and even the ability to be contradictory. Many people would think that such conception as mine would amount to a careless negligent God, but I for One like to think that my mistakes are my greatest teachers.

I think we’re all dots in the One Matrix, that we have divine potencial that can be achieved just by acceptance and nurturing. I don’t think of “God”  as something out there, but as a missing piece which makes us whole. This is why I think everyone must believe in it, even if only by the negation. The people who lack faith, still have faith in their lack of faith! Maybe I’m losing you? Tell me…

What do *you* believe in?
