I was wondering about the meaning of a term which is frequently tossed around nowadays: “Web 2.0″. This term seems to imply some degree of evolution, or something that will completely change the way we use the internet. Maybe it will be the beggining of the infamous cyberpunk age, with neural jacks and artificial intelligence? The sort of thing that we only used to see on sci-fi movies? Well, I asked my friend wikipedia, and as it turns out, it’s nothing so fancy, after all. (Not just yet, anyway) See, there’s an image map that pretty much puts the concept in context, here:

As far as I can tell from what I’ve read so far (you should check the article here and draw your own conclusions). Is that web 2.0 is not something in the future… it’s actually something that is maybe as old as the regular internet itself. It’s the transition towards dynamic, collaborative content creation, as opposed to the ”isolated information silos” of yesteryear. Web 2.0 is blogs, social networking sites and google adwords.
Now what about that? It turns out the future is already here.
